Having spent the last year or more trying to come to an agonising decision over whether to have my (now 3 year old)LM spayed, I think I have decided to go ahead and book Tula in to have the op.
She suffered from phantom pregnancies that would put her off her food, make her seem depressed and bury food in the garden and sometimes down the backs of my chairs! Not to mention howling in the night and not wanting to be left alone.
I never planned to breed from her but was put off spaying by listening to other people's experiences. There was the red setter who died from mastoid cancer at 6 yrs after being spayed, the lab who's temperament changed to "snappy"after spaying and an abundance of other bitches whose coats were left rough and shaggy and struggling with their weight.
However, I'm now almost convinced it's the right decision to go ahead but would like to hear from other LM owners on their experiences before I take the final step to book her in to the vets in early June.
Has it changed your dog's personality?
Has your dog's coat changed?
Upsides and downsides?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
